Position Information: Minot State University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in Professional Communication to begin Fall Semester 2026. The successful candidate's rank (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) will be determined at the time of appointment based on previous experience and professional achievement.
The successful candidate will have expertise and teach in areas including:
• Social Media as a mode of communication at introductory and advanced levels. • Digital publishing, including transition to digital formats. • Applied communication experiences for students such as fund-raising, video production, and/or audio podcasting. • Oversight and technical design of audio and video production software, equipment and recording spaces.
Course load is 12 undergraduate credits each semester.
Area of research and scholarly specialization is open. Candidates are expected to maintain an active scholarly and research agenda and demonstrate commitment to service in the program and the university. This position includes advising of majors and minors in Professional Communication and providing guidance on academic choices, internships, and capstone projects.
The Professional Communication program at Minot State is housed in the newly renovated and modernized Hartnett Hall which includes state-of-the-art equipment, a podcast suite, computer lab, campus radio station, student newspaper, and the KMSU television studio.
Qualifications: Applicants must hold a minimum of a master's degree in Communication to be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with an earned Ph.D. in Communication or a terminal degree such as an MFA in a related field.
Previous teaching in higher education expected. Priority will be given to applicants with evidence of (1) an active program of research, (2) high quality teaching, (3) a strong foundation in Communication Studies with relevant supporting areas.
Compensation: Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
