The Temporary Service Technician plays a key role in supporting electric utility operations by providing field services related to customer accounts. Responsibilities include connecting, disconnecting, and changing electric meters; addressing overdue accounts; investigating customer service concerns; and identifying appropriate locations for meters, service connections, and area lighting. This position works directly with customers and internal teams to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient service delivery.
The hourly rate for this position is $31.832. This is a bargaining unit position, and the successful candidate will be required to join IBEW Local 1600 in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. This is a temporary role, expected to last up to nine (9) months.
Responsibilities:Description of Duties
Connects, disconnects, changes, installs and removes self-contained single and polyphase meters.
Contacts customers regarding overdue accounts; disconnects and reconnects service as required.
Records meter and customer data on required forms.
Investigates customer service complaints including voltage, outages, shock, and flickering lights.
Observes and reports hazardous service conditions.
Specifies meter, service, and area light locations.
Operates light truck or automobile.
Installs and removes recording voltmeters.
Reads meters and performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Successfully passing the EEI CAST test or its replacement.
Ability to understand and apply company manuals, safety rules, and electric service standards.
Valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
Ability to perform moderately strenuous outdoor labor.
Ability to communicate courteously with customers and the public.
Ability to recognize hazardous conditions and use safety equipment.
