Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant within the Amaro Research Lab, part of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology-Pediatric Population Science Department, at the Rutgers Cancer Institute.

Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Temporary Research Assistant will support lab research activities. Broadly, the Amaro Research Lab aims to improve psychosocial outcomes for youth and families, including siblings, impacted by pediatric cancer and sickle cell disease. The current research projects pertain to areas such as the following:

  • Building and testing a web-based single-session intervention (SSI) for adolescent siblings of youth with cancer.
  • Engaging with youth and parents through a Community Advisory Board.
  • Using mixed methods, such as surveys and qualitative interviews.
  • Conducting systematic and scoping reviews related to psychosocial interventions to support wellbeing in youth and families.

The Temporary Research Assistant will engage in various research activities, including collecting, managing, and analyzing data. The Temporary Research Assistant may also perform other research tasks as directed, including drafting written reports for inclusion in manuscripts and grant proposals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Works under direction of the Principal Investigator.
  • Conducts qualitative data analyses under supervision of the Principal Investigator.
  • Assists in recruitment, date collection, and data management.
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to publish scientific research papers and articles.

FLSA Nonexempt Grade 99H Salary Details Minimum Salary 15.92 Mid Range Salary 75.00 Maximum Salary 150.00 Offer Information

The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate's qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, public health, or other life/medical science related fields.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Effective oral and communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in psychology, public health, or other life/medical science related fields of study preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in behavioral science research preferred.
