Job Summary
The Department of Biomedical Sciences is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant for a Temporary, Part-Time position to join our team for the Summer. The anticipated end date for this Temporary position is August 31, 2026.
In this vital role, you will work closely with Dr. Cuihong Jia, contributing to biological research experiments and supporting the lab''s ongoing projects. This position involves data collection, analysis, interpretation, evaluation, documentation, and publication. Please note that occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical duties of physical or biological nature to support research activities.
- Assist with data collection, interpretation, evaluation, and documentation for lab projects.
- Operate and set up laboratory or research equipment for experiments.
- Collect, tabulate, and calculate data using various electronic devices.
- Maintain computer databases of research and protocol records.
- Order, replace, and maintain laboratory supplies.
- Conduct minor repairs on research equipment as needed.
- Perform general laboratory maintenance and cleanup.
- Train and supervise new research personnel.
- Carrying out additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic laboratory methodology and rodent behavioral tests.
- Knowledge of business English and arithmetic.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.
- Ability to perform basic informational research projects.
- Ability to gather, compile, and analyze data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Required Qualifications
- Master''s Degree in a biomedical sciences-related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. Degree in a biomedical science-related field.
- Previous experience working with rodent models and rodent behavioral tests/analyses.
- A minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Commensurate with education and experience.
