Description
Summary:
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences at Alabama A&M University is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Seasonal Forest/Avian Research Field Assistant. The position will be based in Huntsville, Alabama, with field activities conducted primarily at Chapman Mountain Preserve of the Land Trust of North Alabama. The research focuses on the stopover ecology of fall migratory songbirds using Chapman Mountain Preserve within the City of Huntsville. Because relatively little is known about the use of this site by migratory birds, the project employs standardized mist-netting methods to collect data on species diversity, abundance, diversity, migration timing, and stopover ecology. The field assistant will assist with organizing and maintaining field equipment, conducting daily mist-netting operation, and working closely with the project leader, team members, and volunteers to safely capture, extract, handle, and process birds while collecting biological and ecological data.
