Department/College Background

The Department of Health & Human Performance in the College of Health Professions is seeking qualified candidates who have a demonstrated record of success in teaching and professional service in the Kinesiology, and/or Exercise Science field that are commensurate with an appointment at the rank of Lecturer I (OYA) to begin Fall 2026. The position is a nine-month lecturer position. The responsibilities include participation in taskforces, teaching undergraduate in Kinesiology and Exercise Science, and performance of other duties assigned by the department chair. Given that UTRGV is a distributed campus, faculty will be required to teach in a variety of settings, incorporating technology and student engaged pedagogies to maximize student success and may be assigned to teach face-to-face, hybrid and/or online courses.

Minimum Qualifications

The minimum qualification to be considered as a One Year Lecturer is a master's degree

in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or a related field of study from an accredited institution. A Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Exercise Science or related field is required to teach graduate level courses.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications

Earned master's degree in the areas of Kinesiology or Exercise Science from an accredited institution, with a record of success, or evidence of potential success in teaching.

Preferred Qualification

The ideal candidate will have college-level teaching experience. Relevant experience, content knowledge, and certifications to teach wide variety of courses such as KINE 4302 (Kine Curriculum for Elem Stud), KINE 4309 (Kine Curriculum for Sec Sch), KINE 4356 (Motor Development), and KINE 3358 (Sports Nutrition) are preferred.

Additional Information

UTRGVis a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code §51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position beingat least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead ofTRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
