This temporary Conservation Biologist II position focuses on preventing and managing aquatic invasive species through watercraft inspections, boat decontaminations, and sampling for Zebra Mussels and aquatic plants.
It involves public education, assisting with AIS detection surveys, sample collection, control treatments, and supporting fisheries management activities.
The role requires outdoor work in various locations, including Lincoln, Valentine, Norfolk, Alliance, North Platte, Holdrege, and Kearney, with work scheduled from May to August 2026.
Qualifications include at least 1 year of related experience or coursework in fisheries, biology, or natural resources, along with a valid driver’s license and knowledge of aquatic ecology and invasive species.
Ideal candidates possess good communication skills, the ability to operate equipment, and maintain records. Weekend and holiday work, as well as outdoor conditions, are expected.
