We are looking for hard-working individuals to fill the role of Temporary Asset Maintenance Workers - Streets, Signs, and Signals and play a key role in maintaining the streets, traffic signs, and signals people rely on every day. What Youll Do
- Help set up traffic control and safety devices to protect work zones.
- Assist with street and drainage system maintenance.
- Concrete and asphalt repair.
- Crack sealing and backfilling.
- Traffic signal and fiber locating.
- Pavement marking (layout, striping, and paint application).
- Installing and removing signs and signposts.
- Repairing or disassembling signal equipment.
- Operate vehicles and equipment.
- Perform general maintenance work of facilities, equipment, and materials.
Physical Requirements
These positions:
- Involve working outside in all types of weather.
- Regularly lift, carry, stack, and load materials weighing 50 pounds.
- Lift and operate equipment weighing up to 90 pounds.
Position Details
- Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:30 AM - 4 PM or Monday - Thursday; 6 AM - 4:30 PM (Hours may vary based on division/seasonal needs, subject to changes/OT during emergencies).
- Benefits: Temporary, on call, and seasonal positions with the City are not eligible for benefits.
Desired Qualifications
- Some general laboring experience.
- Duties include participating in activities related to the installation and maintenance of traffic pavement markings and traffic signs, and general shop work.
Minimum Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Possession of a valid drivers license.

Eligibility & Licensing
- Due to the nature of work and equipment operated, this position requires that you be at least 18 years old.
- As a condition of my employment for the position for which I am applying with the City of Lincoln/Lancaster County, that I must at all times be legally licensed to operate a motor vehicle.
- I understand state law requires operators possessing a drivers license from another state must obtain a valid Nebraska drivers license within 30 days of change of residence.
