Summary

Assists with the administrative and accounting functions related to the services and programs offered by the Department. Aids with planning, coordinating, and implementing efficient ADR training and education services throughout Texas. Displays excellent customer service skills and general knowledge of office procedures. Minimal travel may be required.

Essential Duties

  • Assists with answering the main phone line and relaying accurate messages to other staff members
  • Checks and distributes general mail, emails, and faxes
  • Logs money received by Department
  • Creates invoices for departmental customers
  • Researches requests by vendors regarding amounts owed and specific invoices
  • Researches requests from customers regarding account balances and specific invoices
  • Assists in the maintenance of the policies and procedures manual for the Department
  • Assists with internal program auditing
  • Edits departmental forms as requested
  • Assists with planning and implementing Continuing Education workshops for mediators
  • Assists with the implementation of the Dispute Resolution Training Institute activities which include Basic Mediation Training, Family Mediation Training, and other ADR courses
  • Assists with preparing training materials
  • Assists with coordinating workshops tailored to customers' requests
  • Assists with maintaining a contact database for training participants
  • Attends mediator continuing education activities
  • Mediates when necessary
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned

Position Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with proficiency and minimum supervision. Good communication skills, organization skills, ability to interact with the public, and ability to prioritize are required. Texas motor vehicle operator's license and automobile insurance or available alternate means of transportation in the relevant service area is required. Must not have been convicted of a Crime of Moral Turpitude.

Supplemental Information

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Prefer individual with knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting software; Requires good communication skills, experience with office-related computer software, and the ability to interact with the public including excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; outstanding grammar and vocabulary; capable of researching programs and projects in a variety of ways, utilizing multiple sources and resources; knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies and procedures; ability to operate office equipment; proficient in a variety of computer software programs; knowledge of issues and purposes of ADR; knowledge of Code of Ethics for Neutrals and Code of Conduct for Court Personnel; organizational and multi-taking skills; energetic, independent and a self-motivated team player; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other offices and employers, and the public; follow oral and written instruction.
