Temp - Registered Nurse (RN) - Stepdown (Nights) - Petoskey, MI
Are you a dedicated Registered Nurse seeking an impactful role in a premier cardiovascular care environment? Join our dynamic team as a Temp RN in the Stepdown Unit during night shifts and make a difference in the lives of patients recovering from complex cardiac procedures. In this position, you will leverage your clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to provide high-quality care for cardiology patients, including those undergoing PTCA, stent placements, TAVR, MitraClips, and bi-ventricular pacemakers. You will support approximately 4,000 annual cardiology cases and aid in the recovery of post-operative open heart surgery patients, ensuring their safe discharge and ongoing care. The CVU also specializes in congestive heart failure management and electrophysiology studies, contributing to national clinical trials through our NISUS research department. As part of an award-winning team recognized with the Silver Beacon Award and the Top 50 Heart Hospital designation, your expertise will be vital to maintaining our reputation for exceptional patient outcomes.
Required Skills:
- Valid RN license in the state of Michigan or compact license
- Minimum of 1 year of acute care experience, preferably in cardiology or stepdown units
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient needs effectively
- Knowledge of cardiac procedures, post-operative care, and electrophysiology is preferred
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience working in a research or clinical trial setting
- BLS, ACLS certifications
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelors or Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- At least 2 years of relevant cardiology or stepdown nursing experience
Other Requirements:
- Compliance with McLaren Northern Michigans strict attendance policy, effective 6/1/2024any absence or tardiness beyond three occurrences will result in immediate termination unless due to supported extenuating circumstances such as illness or hospitalization
- Ability to work night shifts, primarily from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Current certifications in BLS and ACLS
- Willingness to adhere to hospital policies and procedures
