SUMMARY:Under general supervision, performs a variety of specialized
tasks, and manages the operation of teen programs and services in
support of library operations.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISITICS: It is distinguished from the next
higher level by the absence of management responsibilities for highly
technical and complex library duties. This position reports to the
Assistant Library Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:*Essential functions, as defined under the

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may

- Issues library cards, checks materials in and out, aids with use of
library equipment
- Shelves materials and maintains shelves in appropriate order
- Assists patrons with information inquiries. Conducts internet and
microfilm searches, locates reference material, and delivers
information in person or electronically
- Collects fines and payments
- Schedules, organizes, and facilitates up to four (4) monthly
programs for teens (ages 12-17), from September to November, January
to April, with additional programs during June and July
- Schedule and collaborate with external presenters
- Contribute to reporting for grants and other funding sources to
maintain and expand teen programs
- Assists with training and providing direction to teen (ages 12-17)
volunteers
- Markets teen and library services for social media
- Performs other related duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience, Certifications and Licenses:
- Associates degree (preferred)
- High School diploma or equivalent GED certificate.
- One (1) year experience working with school-age children
- OR an equivalent combination of training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and skills.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred (verbal communication)
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of alpha and numeric filing systems.
- Knowledge of basic research methods.
- Skill in operating a personal computer.
- Skill in verbal and written communication
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships
- Skill in working with the public
- Skill in project organization

- Work is routinely performed in an office environment with occasional
exposure to inclement weather, and varying temperatures.
- Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling,
pushing, and pulling, climbing, stooping and occasional lifting of
objects up to 50 pounds.
