POSITION 26P76 TITLE: Technology Systems Specialist
LOCATION: Countywide
EMPLOYMENT TERM: 2026-2027 school year with anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. (Normal contract: 260 days).
BID PERIOD: June 11-17, 2026, 3 pm. If necessary, interviews will be arranged after bid period closes.
QUALIFICATIONS: Eligible for an Initial Temporary Authorization for Technology Systems Specialist, as defined in State Board Policy 5202.
Hold a minimum of an associate's degree in the field of technology from an accredited institution of higher education, as defined in §126-136-4.5.
Possess at minimum two valid Basic Industry Level Technology certifications or one valid Advanced Industry Level Certification.
Receive the recommendation of the county superintendent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Applicant should have knowledge, ability and experience to support all hardware and software operations for county owned equipment including networks, switches, servers, computers, tablets, peripherals, and other related educational technologies.
Ability and experience in management and troubleshooting/repair of end user devices including computers, tablets, printers, projectors, electronic whiteboards and other equipment used in the county.
Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records to document performed procedures.
Knowledge of backup and recovery procedures.
Ability to understand technical manuals and apply the methods to correct computing device or networking problems.
Knowledge and experience with antivirus, threat protection, risk management and physical security technical procedures.
Demonstrates ability to operate technology equipment, use software including word processors, presentation software and spreadsheets.
Demonstrate strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability and desire to establish and maintain effective working relationship with other employees.
Ability and desire to learn new skills and procedures as technology evolves and expands.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on networking equipment, computers, workstations, servers, peripherals, electronic whiteboards, interactive projectors and other county equipment/devices.
Responsible also for the installation, configuration, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on all software and operating systems on county equipment/devices.
Use network management, filters and monitoring tools to maintain and troubleshoot various systems.
Contact appropriate resources (county, State Contract Vendors, warranty providers, support contract providers, recycling companies, etc.) for additional assistance.
Assist in the process to determine and implement security policies and procedures.
Research, plan, test and deploy upgrades to new system hardware and software.
Configure and manage anti-virus and risk management applications.
Plan, implement, manage and provide routine maintenance to all county devices.
Research any misuse and abuse of computer, network or Internet privileges.
Perform data back-up and recovery procedures.
Maintain inventories of equipment and documentation of software problems/procedures.
Provide technical expertise, guidance and informal training to teachers and students using hardware and software programs.
Perform related duties as required.
Applicant must be willing to work a flexible schedule as needed for purposes of systems maintenance or training outside of normal school hours.
Applicant must attend TSS and other technology trainings as requested by supervisor.
Applicant will complete the required training for temporary authorization for Technology Support Specialist and renew certification as needed.

SALARY: Salary based on experience and education level per MCS BOE salary schedule located at https://boe.mars.k12.wv.us/o/mcs/page/salary-schedules plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
