JOB TITLE/ASSIGNMENT

Position: Technology Specialist (Non-Instructional Bargaining)

Qualifications

  • Associates degree plus related experience, or a minimum of a regular High School diploma plus related experience.
  • Knowledge, experience and documented expertise of computers, computer networks, computer software and operating systems.
  • Experience and demonstrated expertise in the management of educational information, systems, reports, and design.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, problem solving capabilities, and ability to work with co-workers and end-users.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Reports To

Data Base Administrator and Data Systems Technician

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Performance Responsibilities

  • The primary mission of the Technology Specialist is to provide prompt tech related services to all district schools and departments. Technology Specialists must be mobile, flexible in scheduling and capable of performing a variety of skilled tasks.
  • Communicate and take direction from the Data Systems Technician or designee.
  • Responsible for diagnosing problems and taking the appropriate corrective actions to resolve issues, and notify the appropriate departments, schools or individuals.
  • Provides for the maintenance and preventative maintenance of all hardware and software within the district's network and data systems.
  • Assists in equipment cleaning.
  • Monitors, evaluates and establishes appropriate security access, user restrictions and hardware/software configurations, providing a safe, secure, effective and efficient data system and network.
  • Ensures back-up and recovery procedures are executed as scheduled, and assists in monitoring consoles and reports any malfunctions.
  • Maintains department printers and assists in the printing and distribution of reports. Performs other departmental clerical duties as assigned.
  • Technology Specialists may be assigned responsibility for specific sub-systems or applications within the school board's network or data systems.
  • Assumes the responsibility to report for evacuation shelter support in the event of an emergency and any other duties assigned during an emergency evacuation.
  • Performs other related work as assigned by the Data Systems Technician, the Director of Information Technology, or the Superintendent of Schools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Calendar Months: 12 Month

Salary Schedule: Non-Instructional (Bargaining) Pay Grade: 26

Salary and Benefits as determined and approved annually by Hendry County School Board.

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board Policies for evaluation of administrative personnel.
