Primary Purpose:

Perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment and network and software applications throughout the district. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of operating systems:
  • Microsoft Windows 10
  • Mac OS X 10.9+
  • iOS 7+
  • Apple hardware including iPad, iPod, iMac, Macbook Air, Apple TV
  • HP and Dell (Latitude and Optiplex) systems
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, software and imaging practices
  • Ability to install, maintain, and repair computers and peripherals, including printers, document cameras, projectors, interactive whiteboards, wireless slates, security cameras, and VoIP phones
  • Mandatory training and certifications in job duties will be required

Experience:

  • Two years of computer related experience and general knowledge of computer and network maintenance

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist Technology department in performing hardware and software inventories.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and solve hardware and software problems on Windows and OS X based computer systems.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment, including printers, Apple TV, projectors, interactive whiteboards, document cameras,
  • wireless slates, security cameras, and VoIP Phones.
  • Deploy computers and peripherals to district standards
  • Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications circuits and equipment.
  • Service equipment according to established preventive maintenance schedule.
  • Maintain accurate updated records of preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work with people in a positive, friendly and helpful manner; skilled in organizational and time management
  • Provide quality customer service and effectively communicate with others
  • Effectively escalate issues through the proper process
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and flexibility in working with adults and students
  • Daily attendance at work and punctuality are essential.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing and carrying.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor
  • immediately.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Equipment Used:

  • Hand tools and test instruments for electronic repairs and cable installations. Personal computers and peripherals.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions/deadlines; frequent climbing, stooping, walking, balancing, pulling, pushing, bending, and kneeling; frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment; frequent district wide travel.
  • Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
  • May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day.
