Role Overview

We are seeking a Techno-Functional WMS Consultant to support the assessment, selection, and implementation of a lightweight Warehouse Management System (WMS) for a distribution organization transitioning away from legacy inventory processes.

This role will lead discovery, vendor evaluation, and early implementation activities while partnering closely with operational and IT stakeholders. The work is net-new for the organization and requires someone comfortable operating in ambiguity, defining structure, and guiding teams through system and process change.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead discovery and requirements definition for warehouse and inventory operations

• Document current-state workflows and identify gaps and improvement opportunities

• Assess existing warehouse and inventory systems and recommend best-fit WMS solutions

• Participate in vendor demonstrations, scoring, and selection activities

• Translate operational needs into functional and system requirements

• Support WMS implementation activities including configuration guidance, prototyping, UAT, cutover planning, and go-live support

• Support implementation of inventory management solutions integrated with financial systems

• Partner with Operations and IT teams to support change management, training, and adoption

• Provide guidance and mentorship to less-experienced team members

• Contribute to ROI analysis and vendor assessment as needed

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in a techno-functional WMS consulting or implementation role

• Experience working with one or more WMS platforms; exposure to multiple systems preferred

• Strong understanding of core warehouse operations (receiving, put-away, pick/pack/ship, palletizing, inventory management)

• Ability to bridge operational and technical teams

• Proven ability to independently lead discovery, documentation, and implementation activities

• Strong communication skills and comfort working with long-tenured operational teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting lightweight or small-footprint WMS implementations

• Exposure to inventory management solutions and ERP integrations

• Experience modernizing legacy or paper-based warehouse environments

• Familiarity with vendor evaluation and ROI analysis

Engagement Details

• Remote role with limited onsite support during go-live and training

• Initial engagement of six months with potential extension
