Job Summary:


General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) is a supplier of advanced electromagnetic systems, related power equipment and other high technology products for a variety of government and commercial applications. These include products such as the design and fabrication of linear motors, superconducting and conventional rotating motors, power inverters, high-energy capacitors, radiation monitoring systems, high-voltage direct current power distribution systems and numerous other products.


We have an exciting opportunity for an RMS Test Technician to join our team located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Performs or assists in fabrication, modification, assembly, installation, operations, repair and maintenance of moderately complex laboratory, experimental and commercial equipment. May consult on the design of equipment or tests. Setup and conduct moderately complex experiments and tests. Records and summarizes data.


Under modest supervision:


+ The Radiation Monitoring Systems (RMS) Test Technician has a broad knowledge base spanning from advanced electronics and test instrumentation to mechanical assembly.

+ Ability to troubleshoot digital and analog circuitry including microprocessor-based designs, ADC/DAC, serial port communications and logic circuitry.

+ Operates equipment to conduct tests with the ability to troubleshoot assemblies using power supplies, digital volt meters, chart recorders and oscilloscopes prior to repair.

+ Builds and maintain supporting equipment necessary to operate and test Radiation Monitoring Systems as well as supporting subassemblies. This includes but is not limited to test bench equipment, thermal vacuum chambers, ovens and various other test setups.

+ Assists Test Engineers with the execution of test procedures. Works with a team of Test and Design Engineers to troubleshoot failures.

+ Assists with the development and implementation of processes necessary to test new production runs.

+ Responsible for preventative maintenance activities of test equipment and data acquisition systems.

+ Maintain systems by implementing modifications and engineering changes as necessary.

+ Identifies deficiencies with processes, procedures and equipment while promptly escalating findings.

+ May travel in support of other company sites nationwide as required.

+ Perform other required duties as assigned to ensure a most effective and efficient work environment.

+ Responsible for always maintaining a 6S compliant workspace.

+ Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

+ Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:


+ Typically requires associate's degree or equivalent with five or more years of experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.

+ Capable of troubleshooting PWA’s down to the component level using tools such as oscilloscopes, DVM’s, DMM’s, signal generators, spectrum analyzers and rotameters.

+ Must be willing to work with and around radioactive materials.

+ Must be willing to work overtime and weekends when required.

+ Familiarity with Microsoft operating system is required.

+ Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office a plus.

+ US Citizenship is required.

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance is required.

+ Capable of lifting 35lbs.
