Job Summary

Support research activities, conducting tasks that include providing technical assistance, testing, and data gathering and analysis.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in carrying out application projects,
  • Shipping and receiving of packages,
  • Lab maintenance,
  • Maintaining supply inventory, and data entry.
  • Equipment setup and maintenance and batching and blending ingredient blends under general supervision. Employees in positions at this level are experienced in laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • They conduct a wide range of specific tasks and experiments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate with Supervisor to provide daily support to scientists.
  • Set up, conduct, and correlate a variety of basic specific tests and experiments.
  • Assist customers by participating in in-house visits and by conducting lab/pilot plant experiments or trials.
  • Organize and prepare samples for tasting sessions. Participate in sensory panels and other sample evaluations.
  • Manage and schedule shipping and receiving of packages.
  • Order laboratory supplies and maintain supply inventory.
  • Maintain and organize equipment warehouse.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for experiments, GMPs, ISO, FSMA, Bioterrorism and others as required. Maintain an understanding of IFF's quality and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Implement and adhere to IFF safety initiatives.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • A minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in accordance with the company safety & sanitation standards
  • Able to maintain a good attendance record while also showing up ontime consistently
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience in the food industry. Bakery experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational and computer skills are necessary.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The following are required:

This position operates in a laboratory/pilot plant environment and requires maintaining and organizing common areas such as kitchens, texture evaluation rooms, sensory rooms, equipment warehouse, etc.

This position may require routine heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, the ability to stand for 85% of the working day and working with hazardous materials.
