Description

Lee County Solid Waste is looking for a highly skilled Technician II to join the team. In this position, you will help keep important landfill equipment and systems running safely and smoothly. This hands-on role includes maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and helping support daily operations that protect the environment and serve the community.

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys hands-on work, likes solving problems, doesnt mind working outside, and wants to support important solid waste services in our community.

Duties and Responsibilities

What Youll Do

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and automated systems
  • Troubleshoot pumps, control panels, motors, PLCs, VFDs, and other equipment
  • Assist superintendent with planning and budgeting for Capital Improvement and Major Maintenance projects
  • Help maintain landfill systems, pump stations, leachate systems, landfill gas systems, and monitoring wells
  • Install, test, and support equipment and control systems
  • Perform preventive maintenance on daily, weekly, monthly, and annual schedules
  • Respond to equipment problems and emergency repair needs
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, projects, and facility improvements
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals to complete repairs and maintenance tasks
  • Use hand tools, power tools, small machinery, and testing equipment safely
  • Create and update work orders in the computerized maintenance system
  • Document repairs, maintenance work, and completed tasks accurately
  • Help ensure equipment operates safely and follows environmental and safety regulations
  • Work independently and as part of a team with supervisors, engineers, contractors, and staff
  • Support safe and efficient operations at Lee County Solid Waste facilities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Education, Experience, Licensing

What Were Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to:

  • A high school diploma or GED and

  • Two (2) years of facilities maintenance experience to include:

  • Industrial maintenance

  • Electrical or mechanical maintenance

  • Wastewater or water treatment plant operations

  • Landfill, solid waste, or environmental systems work

  • Pump station maintenance

  • Automation or controls technician work

  • Utility systems maintenance

  • Field service technician work

  • Strong attention to detail and good time management skills

  • Experience operating hand tools and power tools

  • Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals

Licensing Requirements

  • Valid Florida drivers license with an acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of facilities maintenance experience to include:
  • Landfill maintenance
  • Deep injection wells
  • Leachate collection systems

Supplemental Information

Work Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM
  • Saturday work may be required as needed
  • Additional hours may be required during emergencies
