Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing service and repair work on generators, switchgear, and related electrical equipment. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues to ensure reliable operation. The position also requires completing detailed service reports to document work performed, findings, and recommendations for ongoing maintenance or repairs.
Position Duties
Responsibilities
• Troubleshoot, repair, and service equipment, including generators, diesel and/or gas engines, transfer switches, switchgear, and other related equipment, using proper tools and procedures. • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and efficiently, including work orders, service reports, allocation of time, and tracking of parts. • Maintain customer satisfaction by ensuring customer needs and deadlines are met. • Complete all scheduled repairs in a safe and efficient manner. • Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations. • Adhere to all safety rules and maintain quality housekeeping in the work area. • Mentor junior members of the team.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No formal responsibility for supervising others.
Position Requirements
Required
• High School or GED • Certification in Diesel Technology • Advanced knowledge of complex engines, generators, etc. • 12 years of customer service experience • 12 years of experience in an engine shop environment • 3 years of supervisory experience • Proficiency with relevant software applications, e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, design tools, coding languages
Preferred
• Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or related field • 5 years of supervisory experience • 15 years of customer service experience • 15 years of experience in an engine shop environment • Knowledge of specific software applications, e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, design tools, coding languages
