Job Title: Technical Writer

Schedule: 4/10s Monday-Thursday 7am-5pm Eastern Time

Work setting: Onsite for 1st month, once established 2 days remote per week

Job Description

This position involves rewriting or updating existing technical documents to ensure compliance with industry and customer standards, focusing on accuracy, completeness, clarity, succinctness, and flow. It also includes developing new technical documents, data sheets, work instructions, and forms. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience working as a technical writer in the aviation industry, though experience in other manufacturing industries such as medical or automotive is also acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Rewrite or update existing technical documents for compliance with industry and customer standards.
  • Develop new technical documents, data sheets, work instructions, and forms.
  • Utilize technical writing tools such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Adobe (Acrobat, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Illustrator), and PDM tools (SolidWorks Vault or similar).
  • Familiarize with documentation revision control methodologies.
  • Create, access, edit, and maintain databases of information and illustrations used in technical documents.
  • Collaborate with other departments by sharing databases of technical information.
  • Provide milestones and meet agreed-upon delivery schedules.

Must Have

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a technical writer in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience writing SOPs
  • Proficiency in technical writing tools such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite.
  • Simple CAD capability (AutoCAD or similar) is beneficial.
  • Excellent writing, vocabulary, and editing skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Detail-oriented and inquisitive nature.

Nice to have

  • Aviation or Aerospace experience is a plus.
  • Experience with PDM tools such as SolidWorks Vault.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is desirable.
  • Photography or videography skills are advantageous.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Miami, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.07/hr.
