IDR is seeking a Technical Writer to join one of our top clients for an on-site opportunity in Lawrenceville, GA. This role involves documenting the IT department’s processes, standards, and internal applications, with a focus on creating clear, accessible, and accurate technical documentation for a variety of audiences within a government jurisdiction.

Position Overview for the Technical Writer:

  • Document the Gwinnett County IT department’s processes, standards, and internal applications, developing supporting materials such as strategies, plans, flowcharts, job aids, and product instructions.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts, project teams, and stakeholders to gather technical information and ensure accuracy and clarity in documentation.
  • Analyze requirements to determine appropriate documentation formats, scope, and delivery methods suited for both technical and non-technical users.
  • Create diagrams, flowcharts, charts, and visual aids to enhance understanding of complex systems and procedures.
  • Maintain and update documentation to reflect system and process changes, ensuring consistency and adherence to organizational standards.

Requirements for the Technical Writer:

  • Two (2) years of professional technical writing experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven ability to produce clear, concise documentation for varied audiences, including SOPs, standards, user guides, and technical specifications.
  • Experience following best-practice technical writing principles such as those outlined in the Microsoft Writing Style Guide.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and grammatical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
