Job Posting: Technology Support Specialist

Position: Technology Support Specialist

Status: Exempt

Reports to: Director of Information Technology

Overview:

The Public Schools of Northborough-Southborough seeks a Technology Support Specialist to assist in providing essential technology services and support. In this role, you will work closely with the Technology Systems Administrator, performing desktop maintenance, troubleshooting network issues, and promoting technology use among school staff to enhance learning experiences. This position requires a proactive and tech-savvy individual with strong interpersonal skills to support staff in incorporating technology into educational settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree
  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Effective time management and communication skills
  • Proficiency in using and supporting technology

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support across school buildings
  • Maintain and organize equipment and software
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed
  • Assist staff with network and technology-related issues
  • Oversee local area network maintenance
  • Track and manage hardware and software inventory
  • Conduct periodic maintenance and arrange repairs
  • Manage technology supplies
  • Attend necessary technology meetings and training sessions
  • Install and familiarize with educational software
  • Support innovative technologies within the district
  • Address and escalate technology requests as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Information Technology

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Work primarily in a school environment during school hours, with occasional after-school commitments
  • Frequent walking, standing, and sitting; regular bending, crouching, and occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds)
  • Sufficient mobility to navigate large school buildings and, occasionally, climb ladders
