SUMMARY

The Technical Specialist provides entry-level engineering and technical support to the customer. The Technical Specialist supports software and hardware system design, development, integration, testing, and implementation activities. Working under supervision, this role contributes to system analysis, quality assurance, asset management, and logistics functions to ensure NAS systems meet performance, reliability, and compliance requirements.

As a federal contractor, CNI is a drug-free workplace and adheres to the Federal Controlled Substance Act.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 50%-60% travel requirement.

  • Basic knowledge of engineering, information technology, or related technical disciplines preferred.

  • Ability to learn NAS systems, standards, and engineering processes.

  • Basic understanding of networking, hardware systems, or software applications.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, highly regulated federal environment.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provide entry-level support for NAS-related software and hardware engineering activities, including system design, development, testing, and integration.

Assist in performing system-wide analysis and functional allocation of NAS system components to support mission requirements.

Support engineering evaluations in areas such as:

  • Functional performance

  • Facilities and infrastructure

  • Electromagnetic interference

  • Regression and impact analysis

  • Reliability and sustainability

  • Human factors considerations

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, logistics, software development, and test organizations to support integrated system delivery.

Assist in the development, execution, and documentation of system and software test activities, including test plans, procedures, and remediation actions.

Support analysis and interpretation of technical data to develop system documentation, diagrams, and reports.

Contribute to system implementation efforts, including hardware/software installation, configuration, and validation.

Utilize basic programming knowledge (e.g., C, C++, Java, SQL, or similar) to support system development and troubleshooting activities.

Support compliance with FAA standards and processes, including IEEE standards, NAS modernization requirements, and applicable engineering procedures.

Assist in the use of computer-aided software engineering (CASE) tools and other development environments supporting NAS systems.

Provide support for computer systems operating in client/server and Unix/Linux environments, as required.

Perform basic drafting and design support using computer-aided design (CAD) tools (e.g., AutoCAD or similar).

Support logistics, asset management, and lifecycle sustainment activities for NAS systems.

Assist in identifying, tracking, and resolving technical issues under the guidance of senior personnel.

Perform additional technical tasks including analysis, assembly, packaging, and documentation to ensure compliance with system requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or general educational degree (GED) required with 0 years of experience required. Basic knowledge of engineering, information technology, or related technical disciplines preferred. Ability to learn NAS systems, standards, and engineering processes.

  • Red Hat

  • Cisco networking technologies

  • Redmine

  • GitLab

  • Ansible

The estimated pay range for this role is $30K to $40K, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
