As a Program Manager (PM) of the GFTX Cell New Product Introduction (NPI) team, your primary scope includes managing changes to 4680 cell form/fit/function; launching new products into mass production; and managing the cell bill of materials (BOM) in both the material accounting and factory execution environments.

Typical activities in this role include planning and executing trial builds on mass production or representative pilot equipment, maintaining and driving project schedules/roadmaps, leading deep-dive technical challenge forums, and aligning cross-functional teams on program priorities and KPI's. Working with the safety, design, manufacturing, quality, production, qualification, supply, and materials engineering departments, you will lead cross-functional teams to ensure validation targets have been met for each change/trial/build ahead of scaling the technology into full mass production. Ultimately, you will manage introductions of major coordinated changes into our manufacturing systems and factories through the B, C, and D product lifecycle phases.

  • Develop a deep understanding of our product design and manufacturing processes to technically inform impact of changes
  • Establish/maintain validation standards, develop testing protocols, lead trial/build/equipment/production readiness, lead data reviews of documented test results to inform conclusions to draw back to respective programs, and maintain records
  • Lead program trials/builds across different levels of maturity (B/C/D-phase builds, development builds, DOE's, etc.); coordinate cross-functional effort within our existing manufacturing systems
  • Support design and engineering teams in scaling of product/process changes from pilot to mass production scale
  • Support design and process engineers using data analysis and dive deep dive technical debriefs for validation activities
  • Analyze and determine the optimal solutions for change coordination with manufacturing, other Tesla plants, and suppliers (including EBOM, MBOM, Change Control, etc.)
  • Work with stakeholders to take a vague problem statement, refine the scope of the analysis, and use the results to drive informed decisions
  • Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of relevant work experience in process engineering and/or project management in a high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience in New Product Introduction or product/process launches, including change management systems and product validation in mass production (testing methodologies, planning & executing trials, associated KPI's)
  • Demonstrated capability to coordinate cross functional teams in an operations setting
  • Experience with pilot and/or mass production manufacturing (battery cell manufacturing experience preferred)
  • Ability to solve problems and adjust priorities in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment. Adaptable to process what's important in unstructured, incomplete, and ambiguous data
  • Strong engineering skills and proven track record of exceptional ability (i.e. you personally solved difficult problems that moved the needle on meaningful projects)
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and command of English language
