Job Description:

The position is a hands-on aerospace-engineering hardware-focused test technician located within the E&T Labs department.
The overall primary job responsibility is the fabrication and evaluation of aerospace-grade materials, prototype parts and assemblies, and production parts and assemblies in support of internal customers for research and development projects and contracted programs.
Requested tasks are verified and evaluated with the test requester and scheduled in an environment where there are often competing and conflicting needs to be resolved.
When necessary to conduct the request, new testing methods are evaluated and standard processes developed.
The test results are reported, reviewed as required with the supervisor or manager, and then communicated to the customer.

Required Experience:
• 5 years experience executing materials tests to ASTM standards and specifications. Examples of such tests are hardness, tack-free time, viscosity. Well versed in reading, understanding, and executing to ASTM standards.
• 5 years experience with fabrication and assembly techniques such as bonding, sanding, drilling, material surface preparation.
• 5 years experience mixing, weighing, and handling chemicals.
• 5 years experience interpreting engineering drawings
• Proficient (5+ years experience) in computing within a Windows-based MS Office-suite centered environment for communication, scheduling, data processing, and basic data transfer.
• Familiar with composites manufacturing and layup techniques.
• Demonstrated sound writing and verbal communication skills.
• Meticulous, detail-oriented approach to problem solving
• Ability and desire to learn new skills and execute those to the best of their ability.

Desired Skills:
• Capable of scheduling, de-conflicting, and executing multiple technical activities concurrently.
