Hartmann Studios is looking for a Technical Producer to lead the technical execution of large, complex live events - everything from general sessions and conferences to multi‑venue programs for major brands.
This is not a narrow discipline role. It's a big-picture technical leadership position for someone who understands how all the pieces come together and can guide teams, vendors, and clients from early planning through show day.
What you'll do
You'll own the technical side of our largest programs from start to finish:
- Lead technical planning and strategy during early phases of a program
- Partner with producers, creative teams, and clients to translate ideas into executable plans
- Align vendors, venues, and internal teams across audio, video, lighting, rigging, scenic, and show systems
- Build and guide technical budgets and recommend solutions based on scope and scale
- Oversee documentation, workflows, and timelines to keep programs on track
- Support rehearsals and live execution, stepping in to solve problems before they impact the show
- Act as a technical point of contact for clients and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle
What makes this role unique
This role sits at the intersection of technical direction and production management.
You won't just focus on one discipline (like lighting or video), and you won't be purely operational. Instead, you'll:
- Own the full technical ecosystem
- Work across general sessions, expos, breakouts, and multi‑venue environments
- Be involved early, shaping how the event actually comes together
What we're looking for
We're open to different backgrounds, but strong candidates typically have:
- Experience leading technical delivery for large live events or conferences
- A background in AV, lighting, staging, production management, or technical direction
- Comfort working across multiple disciplines (not just one specialty)
- Experience managing vendors, crews, and technical teams
- Exposure to higher‑scale programs (large audiences, complex builds, multi‑day events)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients and stakeholders
Nice to have
- Experience with conferences that include general sessions, breakouts, and expo environments
- Vendor-side or production company experience
- Experience supporting programs with larger budgets and complex logistics
Why Hartmann Studios
- Employee-owned company (ESOP)
- Work on high-visibility, large-scale programs for major brands
- Collaborative, experienced team with strong production expertise
- Opportunity to own meaningful, complex work end-to-end
