Cooperidge Consulting Firm is seeking a Technical Plant Manager for a premier Architectural Millwork manufacturer in the Scranton, PA area.
This is a high-impact leadership role designed for an operationally-minded engineer or wood technology expert. You will play the lead role in a major shop reorganization, implementing continuous improvement initiatives and integrating advanced CNC and finishing technologies to scale output. The mission is to increase efficiency and volume without compromising the high-end craftsmanship or safety standards that define the brand. This is an ideal seat for a "technical-first" leader who understands the nuance of architectural woodworking and possesses the change management skills to transform a production environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Shop Reorganization: Lead the strategic reorganization of the millwork shop to optimize material flow and production sequencing.
- Lean Implementation: Deploy Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies to reduce waste and maximize shop floor efficiency.
- Technology Integration: Oversee the integration and optimization of advanced equipment, including multi-axis CNCs and automated finishing systems.
- Operational Leadership: Manage daily plant operations, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining elite quality and safety standards.
- Change Management: Guide the workforce through technical transitions and process updates, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Utilize your engineering/wood tech background to solve complex manufacturing bottlenecks related to building materials and architectural designs.
- Systems Management: Utilize ERP software and maintenance tracking systems to drive data-driven decision-making and equipment reliability.
Requirements
Education & Technical Foundation
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Associate’s degree in Woodworking Technology, Industrial, or Mechanical Technology is also highly acceptable.
- Graduates from specialized programs (e.g., Pittsburg State Wood Product Manufacturing) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Experience
- Minimum of 5–7+ years of experience in plant or technical operations within a manufacturing setting.
- Industry Focus: Direct experience in Architectural Millwork or High-End Woodworking is strongly preferred.
- Equipment Mastery: Hands-on familiarity with CNCs, finishing systems, and diverse building materials.
- Leadership: Proven track record in change management, lean manufacturing, or shop-floor reorganization projects.
Skills & Certifications
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP/Maintenance software.
- OSHA 30 certification (or equivalent) is highly preferred.
- Strong ability to balance technical engineering requirements with the artistry of woodworking.
