GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is committed to providing a safe, high-quality, and efficient transportation system for the State of Wyoming. WYDOT is currently seeking a Technical Operator Technician II, based in District 3, to assist traffic operations and support lead technicians with the installation and maintenance of electrical and electronic traffic control systems throughout the district.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with:
Traffic signals
Roadway and tunnel lighting
Road closure systems
School crossing signals
Flashing beacons
Other essential traffic infrastructure systems
Rock Springs is the 5th largest city in Wyoming and known for outdoor activities such as fishing, biking, hiking, golfing as well as activities at the nearby Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. The city celebrates "International Day" each summer with a festival where the foods, costumes, and traditions of towns ancestors are recreated. Qualifications
PREFERENCES/ Agency Requirements:
Preference will go to applicants with a Traffic signal level 1 or above IMSA certification.
Must have the ability to obtain a Wyoming CDL permit within 30 days of employment.
Must have the ability to obtain a Wyoming Class A CDL within 9 mos of employment.
Must have the ability to obtain a certification to operate equipment as directed by WYDOT
Must have the ability to obtain a Certificate of course completion of Defensive Driving.
Must have the ability to obtain a First Aid/CPR certification
Must have the ability to obtain a Flagger Certification.

Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Technical Operations) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Technical Operations Technician I
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Some agencies may require a valid Class C drivers license.
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Technical Operations) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Technical Operations Technician I

FLSA: Non-Exempt
Must obtain a Class A CPL within 30 days of employment.
Must obtain a Class A Commercial Drivers License with appropriate endorsements after 1 year of employment.
WYDOT will conduct motor vehicle record checks to verify a valid drivers license.
Individuals in this classification must pass a pre-employment drug screening and/or physical and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Occasional overnight travel may be required.
Individuals in this classification may be required to be available for emergency work calls at any time, including but not limited to nights, weekends, and holidays. Acceptance of an appointment to this classification signifies that the individual is aware of this requirement and will comply with it. Failure to be available for emergency work without an acceptable excuse will be grounds for immediate disciplinary action and possible dismissal.

Qualifying eligibility and criteria for the hiring bonus
Temporary employees accepting a full-time position.
Current employees accepting a promotional opportunity - recruitment must have been opened to the public.
One year of service to WYDOT must be completed; failure to complete this requirement will forfeit the hiring incentive, and funds will be recouped from final pay.
Internal candidates would be required to remain in the position for a minimum of one (1) year from their promotion date.
Employees would only be eligible for one (1) hiring bonus in a 12-month period.
If the employee elects to downgrade through an active recruitment and/or appointment during the twelve (12) month period, they would be required to pay the bonus back.
