Job description:
The Technical Infrastructure Project Manager will lead and support the team's efforts in planning, coordinating, and executing the relocation of the Primary Data Center from One Penn Plaza to a selected co-location facility. The role will manage end-to-end infrastructure projects, including data center builds, migrations, LAN/MDF design and implementation, network, compute, storage, facilities, and enterprise technology relocations.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing complex infrastructure projects, particularly large-scale data center relocations, builds, and corporate office technology moves.
Required Experience & Qualifications- 10+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure Project Management with a strong focus on data center, network, and technology infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing data center builds, migrations, and relocation initiatives across:
- Facilities
- Network Infrastructure
- Compute Platforms
- Storage Systems
- Data Migration Activities
- Successfully completed 3+ data center moves/builds from planning through execution and go-live.
- Experience leading 2+ large corporate headquarters moves supporting 1,000+ users.
- Responsible for networking and telecommunications procurement, including vendor coordination and implementation.
- Strong experience with LAN/MDF design, build, deployment, and operational transition.
- Ability to commute to Newark, NJ and work in a hybrid model based on client requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure Project Management- Manage project delivery for new data center design, build, and migration initiatives.
- Oversee LAN/MDF design and implementation projects from planning through go-live.
- Coordinate internal teams, technical resources, vendors, and third-party partners to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage infrastructure projects ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria with key stakeholders.
- Ensure technical solutions align with business requirements and infrastructure standards.
Project Planning & Execution- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, RAID logs, status reports, and project documentation.
- Track project progress, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, and financial performance.
- Ensure resource planning, availability, and allocation across project teams.
- Monitor project performance using appropriate project management tools and methodologies.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
- Escalate project issues, risks, and decisions to leadership as required.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management- Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, business teams, technical teams, and vendors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with third-party vendors and service providers.
- Coordinate vendor activities related to data center facilities, networking, telecom, hardware, and migration services.
- Manage communication across cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
Process Improvement & Governance- Act as a change agent to improve infrastructure project delivery processes and operational practices.
- Support development and adoption of project management standards, methodologies, and best practices.
- Provide project leadership, guidance, and support throughout the complete project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and technical standards.
Documentation & Reporting- Create and maintain detailed project documentation, including:
- Project plans
- Architecture diagrams
- Network diagrams
- Process flows
- Migration plans
- Implementation schedules
- Status reports
- Develop spreadsheets, diagrams, workflows, and process maps to document technical requirements and project needs.
- Report project status, risks, financials, and performance metrics to management and stakeholders.
