About the Team
The Global Traffic Infrastructure (GTI) team leverages unified platform capabilities to manage edge infrastructure outside China (both self-built and third-party) providing standardized, compliant, scalable, and cost-effective traffic infrastructure capabilities for edge services. Our vision is to build a global edge traffic infrastructure platform and become the long-term cornerstone of ByteDance's global edge business in terms of scale, performance, and cost.
Responsibilities
• Own the technical architecture and long-term roadmap for GTIs global network and edge traffic infrastructure, supporting large-scale, latency-sensitive services. • Design and evolve the cloud-native networking stack, including Kubernetes-based Ingress/Gateway and traffic management systems, to improve global traffic scheduling, gateway performance, and resilience. • Build platform-level abstractions for traffic infrastructure, exposing standardized APIs and reusable capabilities that enable fast integration and innovation for traffic-intensive business teams. • Drive architectural decisions around global load balancing, cross-region traffic steering, and edge-core collaboration. • Partner closely with SRE, infrastructure, and product teams to ensure architectures are operable, scalable, and cost-efficient in production.
Minimum Qualifications
Cloud-Native Networking: Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes networking, Ingress/Gateway (or Gateway API), and designing cloud-native networking platforms. Edge Networking & CDN Architecture: Solid understanding of CDN, live streaming, or RTC architectures; experience with global load balancing, Anycast, edge node placement, and cross-region traffic optimization. Large-Scale System Design: Proven ability to design and evolve distributed systems operating at global scale with high performance and availability. Cost & Capacity Awareness: Experience balancing performance, reliability, and cost in bandwidth, PoP operations, and backbone networking.
