JOB DESCRIPTION Sr Tech Business Project Manager Salary Grade G05 Minimum: $94,831 Midpoint: $114,022 Maximum: $128,213
Acts as a key liaison between organization and customers. Responsible for business analysis and the development and management of high-level complexity technology projects in support of the TXNM Energy strategic plan. Initiates new projects works with the respective Project Management Office PMO and/or Business Leads and stakeholders to provide project basics scope requirements schedule and budget and manages the project through completion including management of all project finances if required for the work assignment.
Works within the TNMP and PNM BTS groups and coordinates with other internal departments and external third parties to ensure a successful project outcome. The position requires the ability to coordinate and manage a diverse array of project tasks for projects in different phases of completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES With limited supervision while mentoring others Performs opportunity analysis of future business projects and application requirements for high-level complexity projects. Oversees client long-range planning client testing and training and system implementation for high-level complexity projects. Develops business and technical specification documents for high-level complexity projects. Analyzes customer requirements for impact to applications and architecture and assists customer with evaluation and recommendation of best solution to meet customer needs. Conducts peer reviews of business and technical requirement documents. Conducts coordinates business and technical requirement reviews with technical staff and business unit staff for high-level complexity projects. Evaluates measures and tracks project benefits. Proactively manages all stakeholders and their respective organizations expectations involvement and uses consensus building skills to ensure project moves forward as appropriate. Monitors project processes to help ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Manages project team and provides additional advice and/or guidance to resolve problems or conflicts. Ensures all stakeholders are regularly informed of progress health and budget of project. Manages all aspects of the project budget. Captures lessons learned at the close of each project for appropriate knowledge transfer.
COMPETENCIES Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies and tools. Ability to work independently multi-task maintain confidentiality and work effectively within a team. Demonstrate initiative diplomacy and problem-solving skills. Requires effective interpersonal skills to work across diverse and cross-functional departments. Requires considerable creativity independence of thought and action and skills to fashion workable solutions which balance both corporate and customer interests. Knowledge of Company procedures programs and plans. Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations and apply to project. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects including budgets and schedules with the ability to implement corrective actions and processes as needed. Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Ability to detect analyze and solve a variety of problems. Ability to identify the elements of a process the critical activities and to break the process down into its component activities. Ability to identify actions necessary to achieve task completion within project schedule. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint and MS Project work management systems and financialGL systems.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to influence persuade and build consensus toward a viewpoint or approach. Ability to effectively listen observe and respond to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. The ability to convey information to diverse audiences orally and in writing in a way that is easily understood and actionable. Ability to read write and understand reports business correspondence technical documents and procedure manuals. Excellent written verbal and presentation skills.
ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form. Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking to resolve problems decide on courses of action and assist with implementation of solutions developed to overcome problems and constraints where only limited standardization exists. Ability to understand and forecast the impacts of IT initiatives to business operations. Ability to identify process improvements and develop a plan to implement. Corrects deviations for own and team activities.
QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education and/or Experience Preferred experience managing high-level complexity projects from inception to close including developing business and technical requirements and concurrently managing multi-million-dollar projects. Bachelors degree from four-year college or university with six to seven years of experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline. Certifications Project Management Professional PMP Certification or equivalent optional or timeline to obtain is preferred. Project Management Business Analyst PMI-PBA Certification or equivalent is preferred. Experience in the energy industry preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit up to 23 of the time and talk and listen for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Manual dexterity required close vision and the ability to effectively talk and listen.
