Team Leader Die Maintenance Technician

Setting/Hours: 100% In-Office | 2nd shift - 6: 00pm - 5: 45am Monday-Friday, weekend work as needed (shift diff of 5%)

Join trak group in partnering with a growing client in Fairfield, Ohio that’s expanding its Manufacturing team. 

Objectives:
Responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing dies to ensure maximum production efficiency and minimal downtime. This role provides technical leadership within the tool room, overseeing daily operations, mentoring team members, and driving continuous improvement efforts while leveraging advanced troubleshooting expertise and a strong commitment to team development.

Key Responsibilities Technical & Operational:


  • Lead advanced maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of progressive and transfer dies to ensure optimal production performance

  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs and conduct test runs to verify quality and engineering standards

  • Utilize tool room equipment and welding techniques to support precision repairs and component fabrication

  • Provide team leadership by directing daily activities, mentoring technicians, and supporting skill development

  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to prioritize work and improve operational efficiency

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance die performance, reliability, and longevity

  • Promote and uphold safety standards while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work environment

Experience, Education, and Skill Requirements:


  • Extensive experience in tool and die maintenance, with advanced expertise in progressive and transfer dies

  • Proven leadership background with the ability to guide, mentor, and develop team members in a manufacturing or tool room setting

  • Strong technical skills in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and operating tool room equipment such as mills, lathes, and grinders

  • Proficient in TIG welding and precision finishing techniques for high-quality repairs

  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and tooling designs, including working within the metric system

  • Well-organized with strong communication skills and the ability to lead effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Technical training, certification, or apprenticeship preferred in addition to foundational education

Physical Requirements:


  • Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift

  • Capable of standing for extended periods and completing repetitive motions

  • Comfortable with frequent bending, lifting, twisting, stooping, and kneeling

  • Willingness to work an overnight schedule with potential for additional weekend hours as needed

  • Work within a climate-controlled manufacturing environment

  • Exposure to industrial materials and processing oils

  • Ability to operate effectively in environments with elevated noise levels
