Job Description
The purpose of this classification is to serve as a lead worker in one of six functional areas of the senior services: meals, transportation, reporting and documentation, program resources and development, wellness and reassessments, and Alzheimer respite care. Individuals in this classification are expected to ensure that the tasks pertaining to each functional area are carried out correctly and efficiently; each team leader works under direct supervision.
Responsibilities
The Senior Services Activities Team Leader is responsible for planning, executing, and leading engaging recreational, educational, fitness, and wellness activities for older adults. This position oversees program implementation from start to finish, including researching new activities, scheduling various presentations, leading fitness classes, and executing special events. The role also includes organizing activity spaces and storage areas, maintaining program supplies, and completing monthly reports to support program tracking and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and lead engaging recreational, educational, fitness, and wellness activities for older adults

Additional Responsibilities
- Coordinate activities of an assigned program/service designed to assist senior services clients
- Assist the Senior Services Coordinator with program planning
- Provide assistance and guidance to team members regarding policies and completion of assigned tasks
- Ensure that all tasks and documentation requirements are completed
- Responsible for the onsite distribution and home delivery of meals for seniors
- Prepare the calendar of program and activities for the day program
- Provide structured program including activities such as memory stimulation, trivia questions, games, puzzles, crafts, singing, exercise, lunch, and snacks
- Participate in the assessment and registration of new and existing clients
- Participate in resource development for the program
- Participate in the compilation and preparation of all reporting and documentation requirements for senior services and related programs
- Participate in the transportation program
- Participate in or provide programs to senior services clients
- Interact with and assist program participants as needed
- Prepare or complete various forms, reports, correspondence, client reports, waiting lists, referral forms, registration forms, nutritional screening instrument forms, calendars, mileage reports, reimbursement reports, or other documents
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least one (1) year previous experience providing programs and services to seniors
- Valid CPR/First Aid certification
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to pass a federal fingerprint background check (for positions requiring it)

- Assignment to Sexton Hall may include the following additional duties:
- Planning and overseeing programming
- Working with instructors in the areas of art, technology, fitness, etc.
- Overseeing classrooms, including a ceramics kiln, computer lab, and game room
- Setting schedules, creating class materials, and managing registration
- Assisting with the planning and implementation of special events
- Leads special projects such as the community garden
- Assisting with rentals at the facility, meeting with prospective renters, overseeing paperwork and staffing
- This classification is designated as a safety sensitive position which is subject to random drug and alcohol testing and any other drug testing methods as stated in policies adopted by Forsyth County concerning drug and alcohol.
- Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, filing documentation, picking up or delivering mail, or conducting visitor tours of senior center.
