The Katherine Thomas School Program in Rockville, MD serves students in grades K-8 with language and learning challenges, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments. KTS has an opportunity for a full-time Special Education Teaching Assistant (TA) beginning with the 2022-2027 school year. Working hours are 8:30 am to 4:15 pm, Monday through Friday.

Hourly Rate: $19 - $24/hour
Teaching Assistant position responsibilities include:
• Assist teachers in implementing content area curricula • Guide and assist students in the classroom in following the teachers instruction and school program rules • Provide necessary accommodations to meet individual, group, and program needs • Create a supportive learning environment • Implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) • Document student progress through written notes and narrative reports
Required Experience for the Teaching Assistant:
MUST have a Bachelors Degree
Experience with students with learning disabilities, autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or other health impairments is preferred.
Knowledge of education and behavior management methods, procedures, and techniques is helpful.
Must be reliable, maintain a professional attitude, and be team-oriented.
Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly
