TITLE: Teacher Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A Maryland Advanced Professional Teaching Certificate

2. Requires a minimum of three years of successful elementary teaching experience.

3. Master's Degree and Advanced Professional Certification preferred

4. Must meet qualifications deemed appropriate and acceptable by the Board of

Education.

REPORTS TO:: School Principal

SUPERVISES: N/A

JOB GOAL: Support the principal in leading the school to ensure student success by fostering a positive

school culture, supporting teachers and staff, assisting with the implementation of restorative practices,

strengthening communication with families, and helping to carry out school goals and continuous

improvement efforts.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serve as the acting school leader in the principal's absence, ensuring safe operations, supporting

high-quality instruction, and maintaining a positive, goal-aligned school climate.

2. Organize and manage the pre-referral (SST) process by gathering referral information,

scheduling and facilitating meetings, collecting and documenting progress monitoring data, and

submitting any referrals that meet eligibility criteria for the IEP process.

3. Attend IEP meetings as the administrative designee

4. Support maintaining a positive and orderly school environment by promoting discipline through

restorative practices that build relationships, accountability, and student growth.

5. Support high-quality curriculum and instruction by collaborating with teachers and instructional

staff to plan, implement, and monitor standards-aligned teaching practices.

6. Participate as an active member of the school leadership team by attending meetings,

collaborating on school initiatives, and supporting school events and activities.

7. Lead a school committee team (School Improvement Team, Sunshine, Go Gators Go, Green Team)

8. Participate in weekly grade-level Data Planning meetings

9. Assist with schoolwide and classroom data collection and analysis

10. Maintains effective communication with parents and guardians regarding student concerns

occurring at home, school, or on the bus.

11. Provides targeted academic support to individual students and small groups to reinforce

learning and address identified needs.

12. Perform extra duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As found in the Agreement Between the Kent County Teachers' Association

and The Board of Education of Kent County - Ten (10) month position.

SALARY LANE: Teacher's lane. Step established by the Superintendent.

BARGAINING UNIT: Kent County Teachers' Association.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the

Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
