License and Certification Qualifications:

  • Valid Georgia teaching certification in fine arts Required

Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in music technology or related field Required

Experience Qualifications:

Skills Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) sequencing applications and sequencing software, "intelligent accompaniment" software, and notation software
  • Knowledge of the techniques and technology involved in modern multi-track recording and mixing
  • Ability to operate a digital audio workstation
  • Ability to operate Korg keyboards and controller (i.e
  • GEC3 Expanded Group Education Controller) and experience with Digidesign DAW (MX002)
  • Ability to combine sequencing and digital audio to produce a commercial project

Primary Responsibilities:

Implement a music technology curriculum for the Grayson High School technical education program designed to teach juniors and seniors MIDI concepts and software applications in a state-of-the-art music technology lab and to teach the foundations of sound and recording and advanced recording and post-production techniques.

  • Implement effective music technology curriculum adhering to the district Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS).
  • Teach MIDI concepts, MIDI sequencing software, intelligent software, accompaniment software, notation software, and music composition in the course music technology.
  • Teach advanced MIDI sequencing concepts and work with students to develop a portfolio of recorded projects incorporating techniques used with a MIDI sequencer in a Music Technology II course.
  • Teach basic music recording concepts and operation of music recording equipment.
  • Teach students about the different types of analog and digital recording mediums.
  • Work with students to create a music recording utilizing a digital audio workstation.
  • Assist students with the basic operation of MIDI sequencing, intelligent accompaniment, and notation software.
  • Teach musical composition to students in the Music Technology II course.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the arts technology section of the Grayson Technical Education Center.
  • Establish effective public relations among various parties.
  • Ensure equipment in the music technology lab is maintained properly and repaired when necessary.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
