DESCRIPTION:
The Nassau BOCES Department of Special Education is seeking a dynamic and collaborative General Special Education Teacher with additional certification in at least one of the following subject areas: Biology, Earth Science, English Language Arts (ELA). The ideal candidate will be able to provide embedded instruction aligned to the New York State (NYS) Next Generation Learning Standards for ELA and/or the NYS P-12 Science Learning Standards.
Delivering NYS standards aligned instruction in ELA, Biology and/or Earth Science through an integrated instructional model
Developing and implementing contextualized curriculum and assessments that align with NYS ELA, Biology, and/or Earth Science standards
Differentiating lessons to meet the varying needs of all students, including those with Individualized Education Plans (IEP), while implementing evidence-based instructional practices and accommodations
Supporting student learning by embedding content specialty areas and communication skills into differentiated instruction
Utilizing virtual classroom management systems and instructional technology to deliver engaging, standards-based instruction
REQUIREMENTS:
New York State Education Department (NYSED) Certification: Students with Disabilities (Grades 7-12) or Students with Disabilities (All Grades); and
NYSED Certification: Biology 7-12; Earth Science 7-12; and/or English Language Arts 7-12
Three (3) or more years of experience as a certified teacher in a high school setting
Experience working with a diverse range of student needs including students with IEP and Section 504 Plans
