SUMMARY
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Direct and manage the cheerleading program and instruct and coach students to develop skills and abilities to excel in cheerleading. Provide each student with the opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity and ensure compliance with all federal, state, University Interscholastic League (UIL), and local requirements.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Instructional Strategies
• Develop and implement lesson plans for in-person learning that fulfill the requirements of Districts curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in individual student differences. • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), Board policies, and Administrative Regulations. • Work cooperatively with Special Education Teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). • Work with other members of the staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to District requirements. • Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers and oversee completion.
Cheer Program Management
• Provide instruction and leadership to the cheerleading squad in acrobatics, dance, and tumbling. • Provide for cheerleading participation at extracurricular events, including football games, pep rallies, parades, fundraisers, UIL, and other events. • Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each students eligibility to participate. • Oversee selection of cheerleaders, ensure the process is transparent, fair, and equitable. • Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school District. • Coordinate rehearsals, competitions, routines, and performances. • Use a variety of instructional and coaching techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the cheerleading program. • Take all necessary precautions to protect student cheerleaders, equipment, materials, and facilities. • Obtain and use evaluative findings, including student achievement data, to gauge cheerleading program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responsive to student needs. • Work with other members of school staff to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student cheerleaders.
Cheerleading Events
• Accompany and supervise students during meetings, competitions, performances, service projects, and on out-of-town trips. • Arrange for transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events. • Be a positive role model for students. • Support the preparation of all interscholastic game schedules. • Drive bus to transport students to out-of-district competition.
Student Management and Organization
• Implement District student management policies, communicate expected student behavior related to cheerleading, and ensure enforcement of student discipline in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. • Accompany and supervise student athletes during games, both at-home and on out-of-town trips. • Assist in selecting equipment and other instructional materials. • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
Communication
• Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open lines of communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. • Administration, Budget, and Inventory
• Implement the policies established by federal law, state law, State Board of Education, rule, UIL rules, and local board policy in the area of cheerleading. • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures. • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. • Support the development of the athletic budget based on documented needs and ensure that operations are cost-effective and funds are managed wisely. • Oversee the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all cheerleading equipment, including maintaining a current inventory of supplies, equipment, and fixed assets, and recommending disposal and replacement of equipment. • Plan, organize, and oversee all activities, including practices, special events, and tournaments.
Personnel Management
• Develop training options and/or improvement plans for employees to ensure exemplary operation in the area of cheerleading.
Community Relations
• Articulate the Districts mission and goals in the area of cheerleading to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission. • Demonstrate awareness of District and community needs, initiate activities to meet those needs, and use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement. • Support athletic booster club activities.
Professional Growth and Development
• Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. • Comply with State, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
OTHER
• Maintain confidentiality. • Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs, compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents. • Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff, ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research. • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives. • Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators. • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures. • Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
• Bachelors Degree from an accredited university • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in subject assigned and • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate in English as a Second Language - Required for all Core Subject Teachers • Current first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) certificate • Clear and valid Texas commercial drivers license with Passenger P and School Bus S endorsements preferred • CTE Teachers Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements or related training and work experience for certification waivers under the District of Innovation Plan (DOI)
Experience
• Three (3) years cheerleading experience at the 5-A - 6-A level • Head Cheerleader Sponsor experience preferred • Ability to develop, implement, and maintain a highly competitive program • Successful classroom teaching experience
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGESKILLSABILITIES

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the campus administration with the supervision of assigned cheerleading staff.
