Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for the 2026-2027 School Year
This position is responsible for teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing, and providing them with the necessary support and accommodations to ensure their academic success.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing • Provide instruction in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods as needed • Collaborate with other teachers and support staff to ensure that students receive a comprehensive education • Provide accommodations and modifications to ensure that students have equal access to the curriculum • Communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed of their childs progress
Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field • Masters degree in Special Education or a related field preferred • Certification in Deaf Education or a related field • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bilingual or multilingual in ASL and English • Experience with assistive technology and other accommodations for students who are deaf or hard of hearing • Knowledge of Deaf culture and community resources
