Primary Purpose To provide an approved ESL education program that fosters English proficiency academiclearning and personal growth for Emergent BilingualESL students at designated campuses. This position provides direct instruction for designated Emergent BilingualESL studentsconducts professional development as appropriate and collaborates with teachers to provideguidance and expertise in best practices for supporting Emergent BilingualESL students.
Qualifications
Education
Certification Bachelor&rsquos Degree from accredited universitycollege Valid teaching certificate for the appropriate grade levelcontent area Bilingual or ESL certificationendorsement required Spanish Speaking Preferred
Special KnowledgeSkills Strong knowledge of effective instructional practices and interventions for Emergent BilingualESL students Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills Working knowledge of the State and Federal Laws pertaining to Emergent BilingualESL instruction and assessment programs
Experience Three years teaching experience
Essential Job Functions Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies activities materials andequipment that reflect and understanding of the needs of Emergent BilingualESL students Facilitate campus Language Proficiency Assessment Committee LPAC meetings Collaborate with District and campus personnel to ensure that all LPAC duties andresponsibilities are completed as required under Chapter 89 Ensure the accuracy maintenance and completion of student LPAC records physical and digital Compile pertinent data as needed for campus District State and Federal reports Assist and support the Campus Testing Coordinator with the coordination and execution ofstate assessments related to Emergent BilingualESL students TELPAS STAAR Conduct annual language assessments as required by the District State and Federal programs Work collaboratively with special education teachers to meet the needs and determine appropriate assessments and targets for Emergent BilingualESL students in Special Education Attend LPAC and ARD meetings and advocate for the language needs of Emergent BilingualESL students Work with classroom teachers on professional development for improving instruction for Emergent BilingualESL students Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents students principals and teachers as appropriate Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues students parents and community members Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly Keep informed of and comply with state district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required Demonstration of the ability to get along with people in present assignment Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position
