PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist in the preparation and management of the Pre-K classroom activities and administrative requirements under the supervision of a certified teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification Associates Degree or minimum of 48 college credits Paraprofessional Certification for Educational Aide or eligible for certification
Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work well with children Knowledge of general office equipment Ability to communicate effectively
Preferred Experience: Previous successful experience working with children
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Support Perform routine clerical duties Assist the Pre-K teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays Assist with the administration and scoring of tests and assignments Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly Pre-K classroom Assist in the use, care, and maintenance of audio-visual and other equipment Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers Help the Pre-K teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports
Student Management Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the Pre-K teacher Assist in supervising Pre-K students throughout the school day, both inside and outside of the school Perform cafeteria duty, bus duty and playground duty as necessary Assist in the maintenance of the personal hygiene of students Assist in lifting and positioning students as directed by the teacher Perform or assist with self-help skills for students such as toileting, feeding, dressing and diaper changes Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students
Other Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy Other duties as assigned
