SENCA Head Start is looking to add to our team making a difference in the lives of children and families in southeast Nebraska. The following position is available for the 2026-2027 school year. Position open until filled with anticipated first day of work on July 28, 2026.

AREASOFRESPONSIBILITY:ResponsibleforassistingtheHeadStartTeacher(s)inimplementingallactivitiesandservicesfor childrenandtheirfamiliesinamannerthatisconsistentwiththeHeadStartPerformanceStandardsandwrittenplans.

MAJOR DUTIES:

1. AssistTeacherwithweeklylessonplanningandactivitiesforchildrenandtheirfamilies.Preparematerialstobeusedin dailyprogram.

2. AssisttheTeacherininclusionandmainstreamingchildrenaffectedbydisabilities.

3.Assistinhealthscreenings,developmentalscreenings, hearingandvision screenings, andgrowthassessments.

4.AssistTeacherindevelopingandimplementingclassroomenvironmentsthatpromotelearningandpersonalgrowth.

5. AssistTeacherinmaintaininganappropriatehealthyenvironment byperformingroutinecleaning tasksandassuring completionofsuchonaweeklyormorefrequentbasis,includingcareandhygieneofareascontainingclassroompets.

6. AssistTeacherinpromotinglearningthroughmodelinganddemonstrating appropriate behaviors, including by not limited to, socialinteractions,tablemanners,classroomconduct, etc.

7. Assistchildrenwithpersonalneeds, includingbutnotlimitedto, assistanceineating, usingtherestroom,changing diapers,personal

hygiene,andfirst-aid.

8.Responsible forobtainingreliabilityinTeachingStrategiesGold.

9. AssistTeacherincollectingandenteringanecdotesinTeachingStrategiesGold.

10. CompleteanyrequiredpaperworkandreportsasrequestedbyTeacherinatimelymanner,meetingdeadlinesrequired. Work closely with Teacher to ensurethatPerformanceStandardsaremet.

11. ActivelyparticipateineffortstomeettheSENCAHeadStartgoalsidentified withinthecurrentSENCAHeadStart

StrategicPlan.

12. ActivelyparticipateineffortstomeettheSENCA goalsidentifiedwithinthecurrentSENCAStrategicPlan.

13. Activelyparticipateinsetting,tracking,andattainingthethreenationalROMANextGenerationGoals.

14. Demonstrate active employee engagement by suing individual talents, providing a consistent level of high performance, building connections and professional networks, having high energy, broadening responsibilities, and building on those responsibilities.


15. Performany otherdutiesasassignedinkeepingwiththeefficiencyandeffectivenessoftheHeadStartprogram.

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:

1. Mustbeatleast18yearsofage.

2. Mustpossesshighschooldiplomaorequivalent.

3.MustbewillingtoworktowardandobtainaChildDevelopmentAssociate(CDA)withintwoyearsofhireorbeenrolled inanEarlyChildhoodEducationAssociateorhigherprogramwhichwillbecompletedwithintwoyearsofhire.

4. Previousexperienceworkingwithpreschoolchildrenispreferred.

5.Communicateeffectivelyandefficiently,andcomprehendvariousformsofcommunication.

6.Abilitytoacceptand learnnewandimprovededucationtheoriesandtechniques.

7.Abilitytointeracteffectivelywithco-workers, parents, volunteers, andothersintheclassroom.

8.Abilitytoworkwithothersusingateammodelandtofollowbasicteamworkprinciples.

OTHERREQUIREMENTS:

1. Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record is required prior to performing any driving responsibilities, if assigned driving responsivities.

2. Abilitytoliftupto40poundsoccasionally.

3. Beabletotravelonagencybusinessandattendoutofareatrainingmeetingsand/orconferencesas required.

4.Maintainaneffectiveworkingrelationshipwithstaff,programparticipants, generalpublic,andotherLocal,State, andFederalagencies.

5. Maintainones'selfatalltimessoas nottobringdiscredituponthemselvesortheagency.

6.Musthavetheabilitytoempathizewithprogramparticipants.

7.UnderstandandcomplywithSENCAAffirmativeAction/EqualOpportunityPolicy, DrugandAlcohol-FreeWorkplace

Policy,andConfidentiality ofInformationPolicy,SafetyPlan, andPersonnelPolicies.

  • Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug screening and random drug and alcohol testing.

  • Positions are full-time at 40 hours per week and run 10 months out of the year.
