Job OverviewSeeking a tax professional to support the National Office Tax team with technical tax research, real estate transaction analysis, and advisory work. The role blends compliance with high‑impact, research‑driven tax activities, focusing on complex real estate, partnerships, REITs, and related structures.ResponsibilitiesSupport the review and analysis of tax returns and workpapers, identifying technical issues and opportunities for further research and structuring considerations.Proactively research tax law changes, emerging issues, and industry trends, focusing on technical implications for real estate structures and transactions.Draft technical memoranda and communicate complex tax concepts in a clear, practical manner to internal stakeholders and clients.Conduct research and analysis of federal income tax issues, including real estate tax, partnerships, REITs, S corporations, C corporations, timing issues, accounting methods, and other matters.Perform transactional analysis and tax structuring related to acquisition, restructuring, and disposition of real estate assets in joint ventures, funds, and REIT/blocker structures.Manage REIT tax structuring and due diligence projects for real estate acquisition transactions.Consult and advise on like‑kind and reverse like‑kind exchanges, focusing on tax implications related to boot and liabilities.Assist with review of fund documents, joint venture/lower‑tier partnership agreements and the tax consequences of economic agreements (tax allocations, distribution preferences, etc.).Review tax projections, workpapers and tax returns for clients in the real‑estate industry, including partnerships and REITs.Monitor and review legislative and administrative updates impacting real estate, REITs, real‑estate private equity, and debt fund clients, including development of related internal and external content.Draft firm‑wide alerts on current developments in federal income tax.Assist with firm‑wide training in federal income tax.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting or an equivalent field.3–5 years of public accounting experience with exposure to real estate, partnerships, or flow‑through taxation.CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent certification.Strong research and analytical skills with a desire to understand the "why" behind tax structures.Excellent communication skills; able to present technical concepts to both internal and external audiences.Experience in a dynamic, growing environment where collaboration and client service are paramount.Preferred QualificationsAdvanced tax degrees (J.D., LL.M.) or relevant technical experience.Proficiency with GoSystems or CCH Axcess tax software.Demonstrated interest in technical tax topics and transaction‑related work.Compensation and BenefitsCompensation is based on experience level and falls within the Senior Associate to early Manager range.
