Tax Manager | The "Anti-Burnout" Public Accounting Opportunity
Location: College Station, TX
Firm: Confidential Local Leader (Premier B/CS CPA Firm)
The Opportunity: Ditch the 80-Hour Busy Season
Are you a Tax Manager who loves the technical challenge of public accounting but hates the toxic "grind" culture? We are a highly respected, established CPA firm in College Station that has spent years perfecting a sustainable business model.
In an industry known for burnout, we’ve built something different: a firm where work-life balance isn't a marketing buzzword—it’s a contractual boundary. We provide the sophisticated client base of a big city firm with the culture, pace, and community-first feel of Aggieland.
Why This Role is Different
The "Busy Season" Reimagined: We prioritize reasonable hour caps, even in the spring. You won't be expected to sacrifice your health or family for a filing deadline.
Proactive Advisory: Our focus is on proactive tax planning and high-level consulting rather than high-volume, "churn-and-burn" return processing.
The Community Factor: We serve the backbone of the Brazos Valley—from high-net-worth families and real estate developers to thriving local businesses and agricultural leaders.
No Commute, More Life: Enjoy a 10-minute commute and the vibrant culture of College Station while managing a high-level technical portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Oversight: Review complex federal and state tax returns for Partnerships, S-Corps, and HNW Individuals.
Client Advisory: Lead tax planning sessions, identifying opportunities for tax mitigation and long-term wealth preservation.
Team Mentorship: Serve as a technical resource and career mentor for our staff and seniors (without the "fear-based" management style).
Firm Growth: Collaborate with partners on specialized projects, including estate planning, business valuations, and R&D credits.
Qualifications
Active CPA License is mandatory.
5+ years of experience in public accounting with a heavy focus on tax.
A deep understanding of Texas-specific tax nuances is a plus.
The Right Vibe: You are someone who wants to grow professionally but also wants to be home for dinner, attend local games, and be a present member of the community.
