About the Role:

As a Tax Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in managing and preparing complex trust (1041) and 1099 tax records and filings, while providing valuable insights into tax compliance and strategies. This position builds upon foundational knowledge, enabling you to assist in special projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the organizations tax obligations are met efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file intermediate-level 1041 and 1099 tax returns and documentation. • Maintain comprehensive and updated tax records. • Assist in the preparation of tax estimates and forecasts. • Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary data for tax filings. • Review and ensure accuracy in tax calculations and submissions. • Conduct research on current tax laws and regulations. • Respond to more tax inquiries from internal and external stakeholders. • Identify and address discrepancies in tax documentation.

• Preferred Tax Knowledge: Deeper understanding of trust and 1099 tax principles and regulations. • Tax Software Proficiency: Competence in using tax preparation software. • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze tax data and identify trends. • Effective Communication: Clearly conveys tax information to non-experts. • Time Management: Prioritizes tasks to meet strict tax deadlines. • Advanced Research Skills: More adept at researching and interpreting tax code. • Problem-Solving: Identifies and resolves tax issues effectively. • Detailed Reporting: Ability to generate detailed tax reports.

Qualifications

Education: Degree in accounting or taxation, preferred

Experience: • 2+ years' experience preparing and reviewing trust tax returns 1041 experience highly preferred. Will consider candidates who have some knowledge of 1041 returns if they have extensive knowledge of 1040s. • Strong understanding of trust tax return concepts • Extensive usage of tax software, preferably CCH • Public accounting and/or bank/trust background • Enrolled Agent, CPA a plus. • Ability to interact with internal & external clients, assess business challenges and collaboratively define solutions to address key issues • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills • Self-motivated individual who can work with limited direction, while keeping key stakeholders apprised of project status • Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies in large amounts of data being reviewed • Strong PC and business software application skills, including Microsoft office suite - excel • Ability to mentor and assist other team members with questions and/or best practices • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, fluid environment handling multiple tasks and projects concurrently while implementing best practices and focusing on attention to detail • Paramount communication skills
