We are currently hiring a Taproom Assistant Manager at the Sam Adams Downtown Boston Taproom in Boston, MA
The Taproom Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Tap Room (Front of House) at the Sam Adams Downtown Taproom.
The Assistant Manager directly supports the culture, craft, and creativity of the Brewery and Taproom. This position provides superior beer education and hospitality training while ensuring safe, sound operations. The Taproom Assistant Manager is responsible for staffing, scheduling, and maintaining an understanding of COGS, inventory procedures, and sales building. The ideal candidate has prior Front of House and retail/inventory experience.
What You''ll Brew:
Opens/Closes Taproom - weekend and weekday shifts
Participates in hiring, scheduling and training of all Taproom employees; adhering to employment laws.
Ensuring Taproom facilities are fully functioning daily, reporting issues and suggested improvements to the General Manager
Works closely with Brewing Operations on:
Receiving beer, dry goods, & cleaning supplies
Maintaining proper beer inventory levels
Updating Taproom printed menus as needed
Requesting specialty beers
Beer education for the Taproom staff and guests
Merchandise & Inventory
Supplies - tracks and forecasts supply needs; i.e. glassware, cleaning supplies, gift cards, retail items
Conducts inventory as needed - weekly and/or monthly based on area of responsibility
Works with BBC to address inventory discrepancies and work on solutions to control shrinkage
Cash handling- Daily oversight and reporting of cash on hand
Safety
In charge of ensuring all Taproom employees have completed mandated trainings
Ensures that the cleanliness of the Taproom and the safety of our guests and employees are always maintained
Works with security to ensure only guests of legal age are permitted on the premises during volume hours
In conjunction with all management, enforces compliance and adherence to all employment policies within the Assistant Manager's area of responsibility
Participate in oral and written discipline
Assists with terminations as needed
Training and development
In charge of Taproom employees' position training - bartenders, security, support staff etc.
In charge of beer training and continued beer education for all Tap Room staff
Partners with General Manager to complete employee evaluations on an annual basis
Works with Head brewer to continuously develop and create an exceptional tour experience for the Tap Room guests
Assists with development of part-time employees
What Ingredients You''ll Bring:
Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate''s or Bachelor''s Degree preferred.

T.I.P.S. certified
Craft beer background
Experience working with a leading point of sale system.

At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the annual salary range is between $62,000 and $114,000. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location. Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and certain sales roles might include a car allowance.
