Responsibilities:
Peraton is seeking incumbent and external qualified candidates to support North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyene Mountain Complex (NCMC) – Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (NCMC-ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract III (NISSC III).
Please note that this is contingent upon contract award, with an anticipated decision expected mid to late 2026.
Qualified candidates will help operate, maintain, and sustain critical national mission systems to deliver resilient strategic threat warning and space capabilities as part of a world-wide architecture, providing strategic warning that our nation depends on during a conflict. This program will provide an opportunity to exploit the capabilities inherent in our diverse national systems to better meet the needs of the national command authority and warfighters to detect, track, and respond to strategic threats through 2030 and beyond
The Junior Systems Engineer will support systems engineering, integration, sustainment, and operational engineering activities supporting mission-critical NORAD and USSPACECOM operations within the Cheyenne Mountain Complex environment. This role will assist with requirements analysis, system integration, testing, technical documentation, sustainment activities, and operational engineering support across complex space, missile warning, and command-and-control systems. The ideal candidate will possess foundational engineering experience within DoD, aerospace, cyber, or operational mission environments and demonstrate the ability to collaborate across engineering, software, cybersecurity, integration, and operations teams supporting mission readiness and operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities
Support systems engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle including requirements analysis, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment activities
Assist with development and maintenance of engineering documentation, interface definitions, system diagrams, technical baselines, and architecture artifacts
Support integration of hardware, software, network, and mission systems within operational environments
Participate in troubleshooting activities, root cause analysis, and technical problem resolution efforts
Support sustainment engineering and engineering change activities for operational mission systems
Coordinate with software developers, cybersecurity personnel, integration teams, and operations personnel to support mission readiness and system reliability
Assist with digital engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) activities where applicable
Participate in Agile engineering activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical reviews, and integration planning
Support verification and validation activities, test planning, and operational assessments
Assist with risk identification, configuration management, and technical planning activities
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives supporting system reliability, maintainability, and operational effectiveness
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, 0+ with Master's Degree; additional four (4) years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered
Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required; ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI access required
Foundational experience supporting systems engineering, integration, testing, sustainment, or operational engineering activities within DoD, aerospace, cyber, or mission-focused environments
Familiarity with systems engineering processes, technical documentation, integration activities, and lifecycle support concepts
Experience supporting troubleshooting and analysis of technical systems within Windows and/or Linux environments
Ability to collaborate across engineering, software, cybersecurity, integration, and operations teams
Desired Qualifications
Prior internship, military, lab, integration, or operational experience supporting DoD or mission-focused environments
Familiarity with systems integration, mission systems, cybersecurity, networking, or infrastructure environments
Exposure to Agile engineering methodologies, MBSE concepts, or digital engineering initiatives
Familiarity with RMF, NIST, cybersecurity compliance frameworks, or mission assurance concepts
Exposure to operational test, verification and validation, or sustainment engineering activities
Experience supporting mission-critical or 24×7 operational environments
Security+, Linux, cloud, networking, or related technical certifications preferred
Prior exposure to NORAD, USSPACECOM, missile defense, ISR, SATCOM, or command-and-control mission environments preferred

Target Salary Range:
$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
