Systems Engineer
Position Summary
Pratum Companies is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support the administration, security, modernization, and ongoing maintenance of our hybrid enterprise infrastructure. This position is responsible for supporting both our on-premises and Microsoft 365/Azure environments while ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable technology services across the organization.
The Systems Engineer works closely with the Senior Vice President of Support Services, internal IT staff, business leaders, and third-party vendors to support infrastructure, cybersecurity, networking, and cloud initiatives. This role provides hands-on technical support while participating in infrastructure projects, maintaining system reliability, and driving continuous improvement across the organizations technology environment.
NOTE: This is not a remote position; this is an in-office role based full-time from our corporate office in Gaithersburg, MD (Washington, DC metro region).
Key Responsibilities
Hybrid Infrastructure & Microsoft 365
Administer and support a hybrid Microsoft infrastructure, including:
Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
Exchange Online
SharePoint Online
Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Intune
Microsoft Purview
Support Active Directory synchronization and identity management.
Implement and maintain:
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR)
Conditional Access Policies
Identity Governance
Security and Compliance policies
Assist with Microsoft 365 migrations and cloud adoption initiatives.
Manage DNS records, SSL certificates, and Microsoft cloud services.
Monitor system health and proactively resolve infrastructure issues.
Systems Administration
Administer and maintain Windows Server environments including:
Support enterprise infrastructure including:
Perform server maintenance, upgrades, patch management, and performance monitoring.
Network Infrastructure
Deploy, configure, and support enterprise networking solutions including:
Configure and maintain:
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity, security, and wireless issues.
Cybersecurity & Business Continuity
Administer Microsoft security tools and security best practices.
Manage endpoint protection and vulnerability remediation.
Assist with security assessments and compliance initiatives.
Support enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions including:
Veeam
BackBlaze
Maintain disaster recovery documentation and participate in disaster recovery testing.
Respond to security incidents and assist with remediation activities.
Virtualization & Storage
Business Applications
Support and administer business-critical platforms including:
Work with business users and software vendors to troubleshoot issues, coordinate upgrades, and implement new functionality.
Vendor Coordination
Technical Support & Escalation
Automation & Scripting
Develop and maintain automation solutions using:
Automate administrative tasks including:
Project Participation
Required Qualifications
3-5 years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar IT infrastructure role.
Experience supporting hybrid Microsoft environments (on-premises and Microsoft 365).
Working knowledge of:
Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
Microsoft 365
Exchange Online
Teams
SharePoint Online
Intune
Experience administering Windows Server environments and Active Directory.
Experience supporting enterprise networking technologies, including switches, wireless networks, VPNs, and firewalls.
Experience with Hyper-V virtualization.
Familiarity with Microsoft security solutions and cybersecurity best practices.
Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This role is exempt and has an anticipated annualized base salary range of $90k-$105k for a new employee depending on a number of relevant factors including individuals' experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities, client/property or company budgetary limitations/guidelines, and other job-related company and market considerations. This position may be eligible to receive discretionary and/or performance-based bonuses on a spot or annual basis, which are variable depending on individual merit/performance, budgetary limitations, company performance, and other job-related factors. Full-time positions (30+ hours/week) are eligible for 2 weeks paid vacation, 5 days sick leave, 11 paid holidays, and health & welfare benefits as outlined on the Company's website.
