Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Data Migration Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in migrating Oracle workloads to AWS using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience designing and implementing full-load, Change Data Capture (CDC), and real-time streaming migration architectures, along with strong knowledge of AWS infrastructure, networking, security, automation, and Infrastructure as Code.

The candidate will support cloud migration initiatives involving legacy on-premises environments and hybrid cloud architectures, while developing migration strategies that minimize downtime and ensure reliable cutovers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement Oracle-to-AWS database migration solutions using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Configure and manage full-load, CDC, and real-time data migration architectures.
• Plan and execute database migration activities across development, testing, and production environments.
• Develop migration strategies, technical designs, implementation plans, cutover plans, and rollback procedures.
• Minimize downtime and operational risk during migration and cutover activities.
• Design and implement AWS infrastructure and networking components, including VPCs, subnets, routing, and security groups.
• Configure and manage AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and Lambda.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Design and implement ETL/ELT processes and cloud-based data integration solutions.
• Develop automation scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Configure and manage cloud network connectivity and security, including VPNs, Direct Connect, and security groups.
• Monitor migration workloads and AWS infrastructure using CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
• Troubleshoot migration, networking, connectivity, database, and data replication issues.
• Develop technical documentation, migration runbooks, operational procedures, and support documentation.
• Analyze existing business and technical processes and identify opportunities for modernization and automation.
• Work with technical and business stakeholders to understand data requirements, system dependencies, and migration objectives.
• Support modernization of legacy on-premises systems into hybrid and cloud-based environments.
• Evaluate system capabilities, technical limitations, and alternative solutions for complex migration initiatives.
• Ensure migration solutions meet security, performance, scalability, reliability, and operational requirements.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in IT supporting the design, development, deployment, or delivery of technology solutions.
• 8+ years of experience using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) to migrate data from Oracle to AWS.
• 8+ years of experience with batch and real-time data ingestion, including full loads, Change Data Capture (CDC), and streaming architectures.
• 8+ years of experience designing and implementing AWS infrastructure and networking, including:
  • VPCs
  • Subnets
  • Security Groups
  • Routing
• 8+ years of experience with core AWS services, including:
  • EC2
  • RDS
  • S3
  • IAM
  • Lambda
• 8+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• 8+ years of experience with ETL/ELT processes and data integration methodologies in cloud migration projects.
• 8+ years of experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• 8+ years of experience configuring and managing cloud network security, including VPNs, Direct Connect, and security groups.
• 8+ years of experience with monitoring and logging tools such as AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail.
• 8+ years of experience developing data migration and cutover plans, including rollback strategies and downtime minimization.
• 8+ years of experience with hybrid cloud/on-premises connectivity and legacy system modernization.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong ability to document technical designs, migration procedures, and operational runbooks.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS certification, such as:
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • AWS Certified Database – Specialty
• Experience working in public sector or state government environments.
