Candidate will be responsible for Electrical Power Systems (EPS) on the International Space Station in Houston, Texas. Candidate will coordinate with several stakeholder and NASA teams, including EPS, NASA Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) and NASA Safety. Candidate will also be expected to:

  • Provide an integrated analysis of the generic hazards associated with a potential future “Hot” Removal and Replacement (R&R) of an IVA RPCM (Remote Power Control Module).

  • Develop and document Integrated Hazard Analyses for hardware, software, test and ground operation activities

  • Develop Integrated Hazard Reports (HR) for the EPS subsystem, inputs to studies, support design and program reviews, performs safety risks assessments, and assure system safety issues are resolved in support of program milestones and flight schedules

  • Support system safety requirements, performing various safety analyses such as hazard analysis, safety risks, fault trees and nonconformance reports (NCRs) according to established guidelines

  • Present HRs/NCRs to Safety Review Panel (SRP) for approval of analysis documented in the HR/NCR. There are various other boards and panels that may receive the same presentation depending on the level of the hazard, which could result in going to the NASA Program for approval

  • Maintain HRs, safety analyses reports, and software safety analyses due to changes of tasks in the schedule

  • Provide EPS safety-engineering support to SRP

  • Analyze programmatic and technical problems that would affect cost, schedule, and performance of the International Space Station (ISS)

  • Rotate into the Increment Safety Lead position, periodically depending on criteria, to ensure that a good quality team product is developed prior to submittal

Requirements: A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Math or Science with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience, performing professional work in design, development, test. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and experience working with teams on NASA systems preferred.
